ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE

 "Energy and Climate Change" is a book that explores the complex interplay between energy, civilization, and climate change. Inspired by his old passion for power plants studied at the Polytechnic University of Milan, the author takes the reader on a journey through history and the challenges of the future.

In the past, the main issues concerning power plants were the stability of large dams and the transportation of coal. FESTA DEL BRUSCANDOLO A PIDIGALIA

 Ieri, 23 aprile 2023, ha avuto luogo una pregevole e tradizionale festa detta del “Bruscandolo” (il termine si riferisce al “germoglio” del luppolo).

La festa ha entusiasmato gli abitanti e invaso completamente questo paese, fondato più di mille anni fa con il nome “Pidigalia”.

Oggi denominato San Marco, il paese si trova nel comune di Resana (provincia di Treviso) e dista solo 50 Km da quella Venezia, nota in tutto il mondo, la cui piazza principale si chiama pure San Marco.

Tutti i suoi 1200 abitanti sono stati rappresentati da 11 gruppi di cittadini gareggianti al “Zogo del Leon”, che in italiano significa “Gioco del Leone”, una sorta del “gioco dell’oca”.

 Gli 11 gruppi portavano gli stendardi delle 11 strade del paese ed al gioco ha vinto la via del Monastero.

A MESSAGE TO THE YOUNG READERS OF MY SCIENTIFIC BOOKS

With my series of scientific books, I aim to provide young readers with an in-depth introduction to complex scientific concepts. Through this ongoing work, I hope to inspire science enthusiasts to explore the research that investigates how our universe operates.

It's fascinating to learn about the many concepts that we take for granted today, such as fire, the wheel, writing, and medicine, and to understand how ancient peoples slowly built what we now call "civilization" through hard work and struggle. Nothing happened by chance; everything was conquered by us humans through determination and perseverance.

The greatest lesson from our distant past is to "work, invent, and build without ever stopping!" Now, we are moving forward to conquer the universe and to do this, we must create new and powerful tools to explore and navigate it.

Reading and following these developments, participating in new discoveries, and understanding how vast the universe is and how small we are, can be a way to live better and distract ourselves from everyday problems.

AMAZING JOURNEY AROUND THE WORLD

 UN VIAGGIO OGGI IRRIPETIBILE. I tempi sono molto cambiati da quando nell’anno 1991 feci un viaggio di 36 giorni intorno al mondo, con l’intera famiglia e 7 valigie. Per me era un viaggio di lavoro in quanto in quel periodo ero responsabile della distribuzione mondiale per una multinazionale americana. Approfittai del fatto che il mio viaggio era pagato dalla società, ma non avevo fatto i conti bene di quanto mi sarebbero costati una moglie e 4 figli e quanto avrei dovuto lavorare per pagare i loro biglietti, gli hotel e … le loro spese!

Nella prima immagine riporto il programma completo che, partendo da Milano, prevedeva le seguenti tappe: Caracas (Venezuela), San Juan (Portorico), Dallas (Usa), San Francisco, Honolulu, Tokyo, Taipei (Taiwan), Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Milano.

Fu un viaggio meraviglioso da una parte, dall’altra veramente pieno di imprevisti. Atterraggio terrificante d’emergenza a Dallas con aereo infuocato e pompieri al seguito, poi rimborsatomi interamente ($ 2802) dall’American Airlines.  Rottura alluce Enrico dando calcio durante crociera alle Hawaii con ingessatura.  Undicesimo compleanno di Enrico attraversando la linea di cambiamento data tra Honolulu e Tokyo con festeggiamento su aereo. Suo rapimento a Santa Clara da parte fratelli con richiesta di riscatto (100 $), subito ritornatoci con la nostra richiesta di “tenetevelo!”. Pericoloso atterraggio con elicottero su vulcano Kilauea. Chiusura di Elena dentro suo letto a ribaltamento automatico su nave con difficile intervento marinai per tirarla fuori durante una notte. Ed altre delizie che sicuramente descriverò in un mio prossimo libro.
